Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither is His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: BUT your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth. They trust in vanity, and speak lies. They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch adders eggs, and weave the spider's web. He that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to do evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. -- Isa 59:1-7

Every time I read these verses I think of our nation. We have truly embraced lies. In fact, we love our lies. We don't deal honestly. We deal craftily, to take advantage. We have all kinds of excuses for our behavior, but the bottom line is that lying no longer offends us. It's socially acceptable. So, we lie. We imitate the devil (Joh 8:44) expecting it to have no affect on who we are.

Our courts no longer look for truth. No, they look for what they can prove. Innocent people go to jail all the time, and the guilty go unpunished. We are not interested in truth. We are interested in winning, in building a career, in gaining power and influence. So, we pervert justice and call it a "good day"!

Do you know that the workers at the local pit here will run to get into the building? They often do. Abortive minded mothers and fathers are in such a rush they will run over you if you accidentally get in their way. They can be far off when you start to cross the drive, but they frequently speed up to catch you in it. They blare their horn like you have committed some unthinkable sin, stop with their bumper to your thigh, then race past you to kill their little children. Important things first, right? In this nation one of the most important, most protected, and most prolific things we do is kill helpless little babies. Yes, our hands are covered in innocent baby blood. We are dripping in it.

Yes, I know, Isaiah was speaking to the Israelites. Did you know he was also prophesying to people like us? "Wasting and destruction are in their paths"! Yep, that's us. We are in a death spiral, but our lies have blinded us to the rapidly approaching end of the proverbial rope.

We think by our silent acceptance of abortion we are kind, but what kindness have we shown the children? Where is the love in allowing their little bodies to be ripped apart? Where is the mercy is ignoring their cries? No, we are not kind. We are not merciful. We are not loving. We are selfishly indifferent. It's not our body. We're not suffering. We're not dying. So, we don't care. No, because if we really did, we would do something about it. We see to what actually matters to us. We find a way. The children do NOT matter to us, because we do not even attempt to save them.

It's shameful, embarrassing really. This nation -- so wealthy, so powerful, so generous and active in saving baby seals, whales, dolphins . . . every type of wildlife there is -- will die because we could not be bothered with saving our own, precious, little, one-of-kind children. There are no words for such cold-hearted apathy. God is justified in destroying us. We deserve everything He will allow to come upon us. Where is the pride in being an American now? We should all be hanging our heads in shame.
