As to the Lord . . .

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord; and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord, ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.  Col 3:23, 24

How much of what you do is as unto the Lord? Do you consider how to spend your time with Him in mind? Your energy? Your resources? As our God He is to be our priority. Many believe that they have done this because they have found a ministry wherein to work. However, given that the ministry is of their heart; rather than, His, they still serve themselves. They are not working as unto the Lord. They are working to please themselves.

Do you realize that rescuing the children is one of His great priorities? Why? Well, because biblically, they are the fatherless; because their fathers cannot or do not protect them, to God they are the fatherless.

Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.  Exo 22:22

And the Levite (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee), and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat, and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.  Deu 14:29

Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge;  Deu 24:17

When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee for all the work of thine hands. Deu 24:19

When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again. It shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.  Due 24:20

When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward. It shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. Deu 24:21

When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:  Deu 26:12, 13

Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.  Deu 27:19

Folks, this is just Deuteronomy. The call to protect, provide, and deliver the fatherless is throughout Scripture! Yet, by today’s organized church, they are unimportant. The church is what we take care of. The church is where our effort lives, our hearts, our time; but the children – well, that we leave to someone else. Who else? Anyone or no one, as long as it isn’t us. We’ll even see to the animals before we see to the children. Yet, God loves the fatherless.

Does this mean we shouldn’t also share the gospel? Heavens no! However, if all we do is share the gospel, we leave out a huge portion of God’s call. We do not truly work “as to the Lord”, because He expects us to see to them. You don’t have to take my word for it, but you really should take His.
