Pick Up Your Bucket

Before fire trucks people used to form a bucket line to put out fires. They would line up and pass a bucket of water down that line, throw the water on the fire, and then pass the empty pail back down the line to be refilled and returned. Everyone took part in putting out the fire -- whether it was their property or not. They did so because they knew it was the ONLY way, and that when it was their house, everyone would line up to save it as well.

Today our nation is on fire. We are literally burning to the ground, but there are no bucket lines. No, there are a handful of people trying to put it out, but most are still sitting inside their home praying. They expect God to put out the fire or they hope the few working will or they have simply decided to let the world burn. As long as their house isn't burning, they aren't going to lift a finger to stem the tide.

Abortion is the fire consuming our nation. Innocent baby blood is literally destroying our world, but most stay in their house praying. They tell those who work to be busy at it, but admonish them not to ask for help. They pray and pray while the fire rages all around them, but refuse grab a bucket to extinguish it.

My heart weeps for this type of person. They think they will go home to the LORD, and He will congratulate them on being faithful. James tells us for certain this will not be true.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. -- Jam 1:22

The children are worse than naked and hungry. They are being brutally killed while these stand by and do nothing to help them.

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, 'Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled'; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Even so faith, if it hath NOT works is DEAD, being alone. -- Jam 2:15-17

Doing nothing but praying for the children is exactly the same as telling a naked person to be warm without clothing them or a hungry person to be filled but not feeding them. God is not duplicitous. He had James make it very clear.

Pick up your bucket today, brother and sister. Do not just sit in your house and pray. The fire is raging, and God will no way put it out while you do nothing but pray. No. What He will do is ask you why you did nothing, and that with more anger than you clearly realize.
